The pillars West of Zurich main station for years stood without anything on top. Then construction activities started on these pillars so I soon painted them on a large format interpreted as a sculptural art installation landscape. That was when I discovered the big yellow thing that seemed to grow towards me on the Duttweilerbrücke. Like by oversized insect’s antennae the bridge machine continues to grow slowly, pillar by pillar. So the Letzigrabenbrücke unfolds.
One day it just grew over the Duttweilerbrücke. On 17 July I brought the subject on canvas. I tied the studio easel to the railing leveling it with wood. So it would not move towards me. And cyclists behind me will not be hindered. Why motorists are honking behind me and sometimes scare me I will probably never know.
All the more a compliment pleases me spoken by people passing by: "that’s cool, man" "super" "hey, I like it as it is". An engineer came along and expressed his review in a positive way. Beyond that, the Chief Engineer of the section, Michel Brun, gave me his contact details by a colleague. He waited patiently for the picture of his site to be finished, because the format of 120 x 160 cm I cannot do the same day on-site. In fact, it took another 2 working days to do.
